Out of the box this was not impressive; assembled, and once the working was understood, it is fully a 5-star item, especially for the price.We are a tall family (he 6’4″, She 6″) and can mostly reach stuff in our F-150 bed even with the tonneau cover on. Mostly. And when we can’t, it is inevitably something small that has gotten loose and slid to the front of the bed and is hard to reach even with the cover folded back, or somethign larger that is *just* out of reach without undoing the cover. This tool solves both problems.It has four segments: A padded handle with a ring, a second padded section, an out telescop section and an innter one. Assembled with one padded section only, it is pretty short (just under 3 feet) but telescopes to reach the back of our bed easily. With both padded sections it is about 4 feet at its smallest, and extendes another two feet if needed. In our 5.5′ bed, this lets even smaller folk reach stuff.It is an iteresting question if it is better to leave it at its shortest and telescope as needed, or leave it at 4 feet and adjust it less. There are advantages to each.The bottom section as a loop attached, which for now is clipped in a caribiner on a short cord tied to a tie down. Thinking about some velcro options to stick it up out of the way but keep it handy.The unit also comes with two hooks:First is finer round hook like a coat hanger (but much more robust) with a reverse angle bit on the other side — sort of like a lumberjack pike, only the main section is a hook not a point. It looked to me to be fussy and likely to get hng up on stuff, so we havn’t used it.The other is a flat piece of metal at a right angle to the pole with a small 90 degree bend at one end. It looks and feels sturdy, can push or pull stuff, and feels much more useful.PRO TIP: If swtiching from 4 foot to 3 foot closed length, after removing the second padded segment you will need to extend the telecope a bit to get the remaining loop handle to connect directly to the telescope.Also note that the oincluded carry bag only holds the hook parts when completly disassmbled.
