I thought this was going to be an easy review to write. I have owned the longer version of this and use it almost every time I shoot a video in my studio. I leave it mounted on a tripod (mounted with wheels) with my camera in the center and an LED light panel on either end. I also attach a field monitor and sometimes a shotgun mic. The rig is quite easy to move around the studio. The only thing I wished was that it could sometimes be longer or shorter. Since either can be used by itself, and they can be mounted end to end it solves both problems and is an improvement on the concept. Of course, if I do mount them end to end they will have to be supported by two tripods. Otherwise, it would be way too unstable.First, they have improved the rail. My older version has a wider diameter, cylindrical rail. I always worried that the heads might slip causing it to fall off balance and everything might hit the ground. It never happened, but I was always worried it might. This one is narrow and hexagonal. The heads slide along the rail, but they don’t tilt forward or back once they are on the rail. This offers considerably more stability.Another improvement is the release at the end of the rail. This allows the heads to be removed and adjusted to a new angle if you need them tilted forward or back. They can also be easily re-ordered. On the opposite end is a fixed 3/8” screw mount that can be used to attach more equipment or to mount the arm vertically.Another improvement is the mounting head. Once it is mounted to a tripod it has a 360o horizontal rotation and 180o vertical rise. The head also has a bubble level.It comes with a carrying bag (maybe neoprene?) which is good for travel and storage. About the only thing this lacks is adapters for 1/4” mounts. This means that if you want to use this with equipment that has 1/4” threads you will need to purchase the adapters.One word of warning. This thing can easily cause your tripod to become off-balance and fall over. That could mean disaster for your equipment. Be very certain that everything is balanced and weighted properly.Overall, this thing is a terrific addition to my studio. I already know I will love it and get plenty of use out of it.
