Cangshan HAKU Series 2-Piece Carving Set with Walnut Box, Forged X-7 Damascus Steel, 501158

I have a couple of mid-level Shun knives that I really love for their function as well as their look.I wasn’t very familiar with the Cangshan brand of knives but I recently had a chance to try out their steak knives, specifically the “HAKU” series (which is made using Damascus steel), and I decided to do a lot of research about the company.I won’t get into the whole history of the brand since that is easy to find online and I encourage you to do so. I will just say that they are very well regarded!To make a long story a little bit shorter, I love their steak knives!Now onto this carving set.It is magnificent!67 layers of true Damascus steel with a Rockwell Hardness rating of 60 /- 2! It is extremely sharp and with a mirror finish it is beautiful to look at!I was able to slice a eye of round roast beef wafer thin and with ease. This is something that I used to have bring out my electric deli meat slicer for!I love the African blackwood handles which not only look nice, most importantly, they feel great in my hand!I should also mention the fork which is also of a great quality. It has the same African blackwood handle and is made of a heavy steel that won’t bend under slight pressure.The storage box is made of walnut with a nice simple picture of the knife set engraved into it, along with the company name. It also has a very strong magnet that keeps the top held on tight.Sorry Shun, but Cangshan has easily become my new favorite knife company… Especially the “HAKU” series!
