Height from top of the horizontal support bar to the top of the load support bar: 48″ (47″ if dropped all the way without the pin fitting) min; 57″ max. In the vertical position, the unit is very “wiggly” but as long as the load is strapped down to the vehicle, this is not a problem. If it will not be, the included bolt-on clamp (a nice touch to include it) should stabilize it, although it will take some time to install and remove with each use.I have not put the extender into use. It is well-made and sturdy and should function well. I had another similar extender 20 years ago and this one is much better designed and made. It comes with rubber pads for the main load support bar as well as the vertical side load bars, also a nice touch. [...]
