Used it to coat a gold plated ball on a telescoping flagpole outdoors. Gold wore off previous ball after just 2 winters. Applied it thick with a tiny plumber’s acid brush but it is runny. Caught the runs. Felt like applying thick fingernail polish. You can’t really just keep stroking it with the paint brush or you affect the gloss finish. Strokes will show. Have to try to apply it a little at a time with minimal overlapping strokes. Tuff to do that because you then have to overlap strokes. Best I can say is you need a technique to apply it fast & thick & without runs. The first coat was self leveling when I looked at it the next morning. Applied a second coat the second day. Checked it next morning and found bugs got stuck in it. The ball is 20 feet in the air when the pole is extended. Can’t tell from the ground it has been coated. I will need to check it every spring now to watch if it needs touchup, a new coat or if black mold or other discolorization develops under it.Had a lot of difficulty opening the can. Using a paint can opener ruined the cover — bent & not usable. Poured the contents into a small jar but next morning the surface of the liquid had dried forming a thin seal. Got the seal removed by poking it with the end of the handle of an old plumber’s acid paint brush that I used to stir the product and used a disposable vinyl glove under the cover hoping that keeps the jar airtight. Jar cover has it’s own seal. Wondering if just the available air in the little jar was enough to cause the top of the fluid to dry. Do not shake product or cause any bubbles in it.I find this product difficult to get a professional looking clearcoat finish. The photo shows it dries sort of like textured so you do not maintain the metal’s perfect mirror-like finish. Not an issue for this ball because it is viewed from the ground and it’s 20 feet in the air. Just want to maintain it’s gold color and bright reflection in the direct sun. Have 3 fancy brass exterior door knobs that must be sealed before I install them. Why would a door knob manufacturer not seal their product? Who wants to install a beautiful polished brass knob only to have it discolor so badly? I am going to look for and test a different product for the door knobs. Chose this sealer product because of so many challenges people faced in reviews of other products plus I only needed a small amount of product. Not going to be easy to find a professional quality product for home use.
